Who Is Tamil People? History & Orgin

Previously we have seen about the orgin of Telugu & Malayali people. We had shocking results that Telugu and Malayali people are not from India and now we are going to see about Tamil people because even Tamil people also migrated from other place.

The origins of the Tamil people, like those of the other Dravidian peoples, are unknown, although genetic and archaeological evidence suggest a possible migration into India around 6000 BC (Gadgil 1997). Before 11600 years, Sri Lanka was a part of Tamil Nadu. After deluge (big flood) Sri Lanka separated from Tamil Nadu.

Facts: Dravidian people also migrated to India, they are also from outside india

Their name is derived from “Damila,” the name of an ancient, warlike non-Aryan people mentioned in early Buddhist and Jain records. The Tamil language is Dravidian in origin, with its roots in western India, Pakistan, and areas farther to the west.

An important Dravidian people in the southern India are the Tamils. They are also found in northern Sri Lanla which of course is located in the Tamil populated area of southern India. Tamil People Related To Elamite (Elam)

Some connect Tamil people with the Elamite people of ancient Iran. Historians confirmed with the scripts and names of towns of Indus that the people of the Indus Valley Civilization were Tamil. Elam (Elamite) was an long-lasting ancient civilization just to the east of Mesopotamia, in what is now southwest Iran. Elam was centered in the far west and southwest of what is now modern-day Iran, stretching from the lowlands of what is now Khuzestan and Ilam Province as well as a small part of southern Iraq.

Elamite (Elam) language

The peoples of the Indus Civilization spoke a Dravidian language around 2,500 bc. Dravidian speech and associated cultural traits spread into southern India, especially in the centuries after 1,000 bc. By the early centuries bc, a complex and distinctive culture had developed in what is now Tamil Nadu, the “land of the Tamil.”

Megalithic Tribe In India

In Tamil Nadu, the earliest presence of Tamil people dates back to around 10000 BC on wards. Archaeologists have found many burial places of megalithic era. The style of burials is same as described in classical Tamil literature. Recent excavations at these sites have also provided samples of early Tamil writing, dating back to at least 5000 BC (Source: The Hindu, 2005).

So now you’re confused where does Tamil people come from?

1st Point: Tamil (Dravidian) came to India after 1000BC only.

2nd Point: Before Tamil (Dravidian) there is megalithic tribe or people, so we need to understand who are these megalithic people.

I think now we’re all clear that Tamil people also not from India their originality is still yet to be confirmed. But untill now we know we are from (elamite/Elam) from srilanka
